Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention

Dave attended and subsequently received certification in Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention training, May 1, 2, 2009, as conducted by Bonita Frazier, Mental Health Emergency Planning Coordinator for Western New York. This training is accredited through the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. Dave also sits on the MMRS Mental Health subcommittee, chaired by Ms. Frazier. The committee brings together all disciplines with the intent to be proactive or preventitive relative to mental health matters and emergency situations.

Encourage your New York State legislators to support S.3159/A.2242, an act to amend the education law in relation to instruction on the history of people with disabilities.

The proposed legislation would add the history of people with disabilities to the list of mandatory subjects to be taught. A sample memo in support has been drafted for your use. Please download and send it to your state legislators today!

Dave was identified in the April 3-9, 2009 Buffalo Business First periodical in the People on the Move section. The entry noted his upcoming Amherst North Rotary Club presentation on May 12th and their recognition of him for "his 20 years of dedicated service improving the lives of people with disabilities."

   

NYS Adult Day Health Care Council

DAT travels to the Turning Stone Casino in Central New York on Thursday to present at the NYS Adult Day Health Care Council's Annual Spring conference. In line with this, Dave has become a member of the Network in Aging, a WNY group that has extensive membership and looks to address the vast needs of the region's aging population. Dave is a former Director of a Managed Long Term Care (pre-PACE) program.
