Etiquette
When talking with a friend in a wheelchair, sit down. That way, you’re both on equal footing and can talk face to face.
Feel free to offer assistance. If the person accepts your offer, ask for specific instructions.
Identify yourself by name when greeting people with visual impairments. Be sure to tell them when you’re leaving.
Wheelchairs and other equipment are part of the user’s personal space. Don’t touch or lean on them without permission.
If you can’t understand a person with a speech disability, admit it and seek out someone to translate.
